"MaDlamini wami. MaNkosi. Sidlubula Dledle sika Nobamba. Lokothwayo. Ludonga luka Mavuso. Sidwaba Siluthuli. Mlangeni. Sobhuza. Mntungwa. Kunene..."

"The colorful attire made her look fresh and she exuded youthfulness. Her beautiful breast were full and perky, her dark skin glistening. Her waist has always been tiny and her curves barely covered making Zikode twitch painfully. She was barefoot and her head was thrown back laughing with someone who wasn't shown in the picture. She literally took my breath away. "

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We embark on a journey of an innocent 18 year old Nomaswazi, who was arranged (by her father) to marry a stranger who she only saw on pictures and she instantaneously falls in love. She thought that she found her 'prince charming'. Even after hearing her husband to be (Hlongwane) called her a "fat cow" that did not stop Nomaswazi from walking down the aisle.

Everything comes crushing down when Hlongwane leaves Nomaswazi at the altar. Nomaswazi is embarrassed and devastated and that causes Swazi to run away from home in Swaziland to a foreign country South Africa.

The book begins 6 years later, where we witness Swazi living in Johannesburg 'moving on' with her life. Hlongwane just suddenly comes out of the purple into Nomaswazi's life (the liver). It seems that Hlongwane's sudden appearance bring back Swazi's repressed memories and Hlongwane comes back to claim her back not that only but Hlongwane comes bearing bad news. And Hlongwane is not going to let her go this time and he will do anything to get her back.
The book is set at the beautiful country Swaziland. The book is written in first person narration, where Nomaswazi and Hlongwane are the main characters. We see their own points of views and perspectives on side of events.

What We Liked:
๐Ÿ”ด Both Nomaswazi & Hlongwane both have demons but we liked that they were able to seek help, work through their past and heal together.
๐Ÿ”ดWe liked that the author reminded us that we are a masterpieces and yet be a work in progress.
๐Ÿ”ดWe liked that the book shows that our main characters have flaws and insecurities instead of painting them as this wonderful perfect beings.
๐Ÿ”ดWe are able to relate to Swazi's predicament about what she went through. She went through depression, bullying, and not appreciating our bodies and that is what we all experience in different seasons of our lives.
๐Ÿ”ดWe liked the way the author described the setting of Swaziland๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฟ.
๐Ÿ”ดWe liked that when Hlongwane found out that when Hlongwane found out that Nomaswazi was still pure, he actually wanted to protect her from his demons by not wanting to copulate with her. And he didn't want to let her innocence get tainted by his past.

What We Didn't Like:
⚫We didn't like how Nomaswazi's siblings Zamaswazi and Masomalehle treated Swazi. No one deserves to be treated like that by their siblings๐Ÿšฎ
⚫We really didn't like Hlongwane's twin brother Ntsikelelo and what he did to Swazi (a total misogynist)๐Ÿšฎ
⚫We disliked how Hlongwane wanted to control Nomaswazi (boy, get some self-control first).
⚫We disliked Hlongwane's inability to communicate which lead to infidelity and lack of trust in the relationship.

❤️❤️❤️
Nomaswazi is a beautifully written book, which covers various topics such as mental health, rape, addiction, family feuds, loss, royalty and chieftaincy.
We definitely recommend Nomaswazi. The book will keep you on your toes and you’ll love the drama.
